I am a former captain of the sheriff's department, having dedicated 46 years of service across three Tennessee law enforcement agencies. Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, I proudly graduated from the FBI National Academy, Session 187, enhancing my professional law enforcement journey. Additionally, I had the honor of serving as the past president of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) West Tennessee Chapter.
I started my law enforcement career, March 4, 1968, with the Memphis Police Department (MPD), in Memphis, Tennessee. On January 9, 1984, I resigned from MPD, in good standing, with 16 years of service. On August 12, 1985, I joined the Shelby County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) and retired on August 31, 2013 from SCSO with 28 years of service earning the rank of Captain.
I was later appointed the Chief of Police of Mason, Tennessee, from September 12, 2016 to February 21, 2019. After that, I marketed my professional services as a Law Enforcement Consultant.
